The 2008 Big-To-Do, held annually at Zoo Atlanta, was a wonderful afternoon of family fun to benefit The Children’s Program of Visiting Nurse | Hospice Atlanta. More than 1100 children, parents, grandparents, friends and volunteers ensured the success of this year’s event, raising over $170,000. Co-Chairs Barb Ghegan and Ann Madden led a committee of 20 committed volunteers who planned an elephant theme of “1-2-3 Follow Me.” For the 17th consecutive year, local artist Anne Hathaway contributed a charming illustration in celebration of the event. LowCountry Barbecue, Interactive Attractions and A Class Act Band brought the party to life as families arrived at Zoo Atlanta to enjoy great food, great friends and great music.
The Big-To-Do is the primary fundraiser for The Children’s Program, established in 1991 to care for Atlanta’s pediatric patients and their families. Taking into consideration social, spiritual, emotional and financial needs, a team of specialized pediatric professionals provides loving care to children and their families in the patient’s own homes or, in acute situations, at the Hospice Atlanta Center. Visiting Nurse | Hospice Atlanta also provides bereavement care to families of pediatric patients for and organizes Camp STARS bereavement camps for children and families. Families from The Children’s Program were able to join us at the Big-To-Do to celebrate the lives of their children.
We would like to thank the following major donors for their generous and consistent support of this deserving program:
