VNHS What Hospice Means To You

Our goal is to enhance our patients’ quality of life as they face their life-limiting illness.
Our dedicated team of professionals is led by our Medical Director, Dr. Linda Britton, a Hospice and Palliative Care board certified physician, and includes nurses, social workers, spiritual caregivers, nursing assistants, and specially-trained volunteers.  Hospice care is focused on providing palliative care that manages the patient’s pain related symptoms, as well as offering support regarding the emotional and spiritual needs of the entire family.  Our team members are available to help 24 hours a day, seven days a week.  We also offer comprehensive bereavement support for a least a year after a loved one’s death.

Specialized Care
Hospice services must be prescribed by a physician. Our full-time medical director, or your primary doctor, and our compassionate, interdisciplinary team develop an individualized plan of care and teach patients and families what to expect as the illness progresses.  Call your doctor for more information, or contact us at 404-869-3000.

Affordable, Quality Care
Hospice Atlanta accepts Medicare, Medicaid and most insurance plans.  As a community nonprofit, our mission is to care for everyone regardless of age, race, diagnosis or the ability to pay.  To the extent that charitable funds are available, no patient who is eligible for hospice services will be turned away.

Volunteering
Many people who experience our end-of-life program as a family member or friend decide to volunteer as a way of giving back.  For information about becoming a hospice volunteer, see How You Can Help
